Further rants
Also, I realize that the Episcopalians have really become the villains in my religious worldview. I guess this is due to the fact that from day one I consider them as a watered-down version of Catholicism. If I were to subscribe to their beliefs, I may as well become a Catholic. (BTW--I have great admirations for Catholics, from Thomas a Kempis and Johannes Eckhart to Brother Thomas Favier my former high school principal.)I think that's probably why. Furthermore, early Quakers' contempt for Anglicans certainly does not help to ease my own contempt for this sect.Nowadays, the average Episcopalian Priest, in his white surplice and black cassock and common prayer-book has almost become the stock villain in my weltanschauung. "Faithless infidels dressed in clerical garbs" pretty much sums up my view of them. In my tirade today, I refer to Father Tim Safford, rector of Christ Church, our neighbor, as a dry tree and a hollow cask.
