A great article from Friends Journal

The article compares the drastic contrast between the evangelical El Salvador Yearly Meeting and the liberal/universalist Northern Yearly Meeting (centered around Michigan, Wisconcin, etc.).

To some degree I think it touches on the basic differences between Evanglical and the Social Gospel Movement, the former being the dominant trend of American Protestanism in the latter half of the 20th century and the former a product of the Second Industrial Revolution.
