Zhao Ziyang's death
Zhao Ziyang (1919-2005), third Premier of the People's Republic of China (1980-1987) and one time General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (1987-1989) passed away at 7:01 a.m. on 17th January, 2005. He will be remembered as a chief reformer of the economic and political system in China. The news of his death has been confirmed by Xinhua News Agency, the official news agency of the People's Republic of China on 18th January, 2005.
