E Pluribus Unum
Had a French dip sandwich at a bar outside Boston Commons two days ago. It was delicious, and I had to look up its origin:http://members.cox.net/jjschnebel/frdipsan.html
So French dip isn't French at all. It was invented accidentally by a French-American immigrant, one M. Mathieu, who ran a deli in L.A. Isn't that just amazing? How this country has been and still is enriched by the cultures various immigrants brought with them has never failed to impress me. Without the fabrics of many, there could never have been the wholecloth of the United States of America.
